Waves v9 Bundle - Windows 8 - PreSonus Studio One 2 - Fix

Hi,

I recently installed the Waves Bundle v9 on my Windows 8 Pro 64bit PC.  Unfortunately I ran into an issue while trying to use any of the Waves 9 VST Plugins.  After searching forums, Google, etc. I got an idea from another post that ended up fixing my issues.

MY SYSTEM CONFIG:
Custom Build Studio PC:  i7, 16GB Ram, 128 SSD (System), 2TB HD (Storage)
OS:  Windows 8 Pro x64
DAW:  PreSonus Studio One v2.5.1
Interface:  PreSonus StudioLive 16.4.2 (Firewire)

MY SYSTEM ISSUE:
Upon starting S1 everything runs smooth with no issues.  All of my plugins, except for Waves, work perfectly.  If I try to use or add any of the Waves plugins nothing happens.  I've tried re-installing, checking system & DAW configurations, etc with no luck.

MY SYSTEM ISSUE FIX:
Simply go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3  and change the name of the file WaveShell-VST3 9.2_x64 to WaveShell-VST3 9.2_x64-fixed.  This has cured my issues with Waves v9 in PreSonus StudioOne v2 on my Windows 8 Pro x64 system.

    Hi,
    thank you very much for this precious solution which solved the problem partially by me! It works but sometime it's necessary to repeat the operation (twice/ three times for day) and it's really boring. I think that it depends on the kind of daw. In cubase/nuendo we have similar issues. Any official solution by Waves Audio? The strange thing is that I used Cubase and Waves plugins for months without particular problems; everything happened out of the blue. Another strange thing is that I personally have this problem with Cubase 32bit and not with the 64bit version, Wavelab or other VST hosts. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated

      You're very welcome. I haven't had any issues with this after doing the fix. I haven't heard or seen any other suggestions so far and I'm not sure if Waves has posted an official fix or not. I hope you're able to figure it out soon though. I know it can be extremely frustrating. If I find anything else that'll help I'll post it here for you. Best!

    I can't friggin believe this worked!!!

    I'm using Cubase 5 64-bit. Whenever Waves plugins would load the whole DAW would crash. For the past few months I'd been exclusively working on my Win7 laptop because of this problem. Now it's all good on my Win8 desktop!!! THANKS! YOU RULE SO, SO MUCH!

    Always getting the same error; Couldn't find WavesLib_9.0_Win32.dll try to re-install.

    I also run i7, 64bit with windows 8. And followed your steps.

      Hi Chris, Try copying "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3", without the quotes, of course, and pasting it into your Windows address bar. You have to do it this way because this particular location is often hidden. I hope this helps!

    Thanks for your reply, unfortunately it didn't work, it's still giving me the the Couldn't find WavesLib_9.0 file.

    I deleted all my prior registries and tried several Waves V9 installers.

    I run Win8 64bit.

    Don't know why I can't get it to work :(

      It won't come up in search. You have to find it via the method I sent you. Try uninstalling, restarting, re-install, then go to C: drive, Program Files, Common Files, VST3 and it will be in the VST3 folder if your installation processed correctly. If not, your copy of Waves may have a problem with the installation files.

    Do you also need to do this when you have a Waves installation incluiding a crack? Because my crack in this waves already added the 'fixed' thing to the VST3.

      I'm not sure about that. If the WaveShell file has already been changed to "-fixed", try removing the "-fixed" to see if that allows Waves to perform correctly. Don't delete the file, just rename it.

      No problem at all. I hope it works for you. If not, try downloading and installing the new version as they've added some much needed improvements. With the new version, r13, I no longer have to use this fix for Waves to function correctly on my W8 system.

    FINALLY!!! It works, I figured out the most stupid thing, I need to load the waveshell to select the plugin in my DAW, not the individual dll.

    Worked for me on a fresh installed Win8.1 machine with Cubase 7 64bit. Whenever i was loading a project file containing the Waves V9 Plugins Cubase crashed. Now everything works like a charm.

    Hello there!

    Thanks for sharing this information! However, I tried the trick and didn't work. My installation pack is 9r8 and the "-fixed" wasn't there initially. Following your steps, I changed the file name, including on the 32-bits folder, but nothing worked.

    My DAW is a Cubase AI5 and my PC is a little bit different from yours, my Windows isn't Pro but is 8 as well.

    Another thing that I guess is important to know is that I followed the install instructions and the VST3 folder isn't the one created, only VSTPlugins.

    OMG!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!! I was nearly in tears without my waves plugins lol :) You're a GOOD MAN!!

    Im using Mac OSX 10.9 Maverick... I wen to my library/audio/plugins/vst3 folder and added '-fixed' to the waveshell 9.2.vst3 ((waveshell 9.2-fixed.vst3)) and now ALL the plugins work completley fine! thanks again

    It's 7:09 AM and I am almost dead here... since last night I was trying to fix this issue... After hours and hours of reinstalling cubase, waves, other plugins, editing registry and doing all kind of stupid stuff, I ran out of ideas... then google sent me to this page and finally got the stupid answer ...

    In other words, I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, you saved my life, I wish you the best things in the world.......

    Every time i load up Cubase 7 it gets to the 'Initializing midi' Part and crashes due to 'Waveshell vst3' (Can't remember the exact name) for some reason. I have tried changing the name as stated, reinstalled waves countless times, deleted things from the regedit and what ever else i can find.

    Once I've changed the name in the folder you stated it loaded up. I was thinking it was cured, then none of the plugins appear in Cubase.

    This has stopped the crashing but hasn't totally fixed the problem. I'm currently at ym wits end due to having this problem for around two months. All my projects are at a stand still and i don't know what to do. Feel like giving up. Someone please tell em what i am doing wrong :'(

      It should work no problem. Just change "Program Files" to "Program Files (x86)" in the address.

    Did this but still have the problem,Cubase crashes.
    I have a Cubase 5.1 (32 bit),running on Windows 8.1 (64 bit).
    Never had this problem when I had windows 7 btw.

      Hi Jay, It's working perfectly for my WaveShell 9.3. I updated my Waves over the holidays and had to reapply this fix because my new plugs are running 9.3. Let me know if you're still having issues.

    I am trying to use Debreath with Audition 1.5 on Windows 8.1. It's not officially supported but friends use 1.5 with it fine. My problem is it comes up listed in Effects under Unsupported>VST, and it's greyed out. And when I manage to click on it, the message is "The VST you selected cannot be found". I followed your advice, in both Program Files and Program Files(x86) I found Common Files/VST3 and changed the file within by adding "-fixed" to it. So that's both the 9.3 and the 9.3_x64 But the problem is still there. Can you help please?

    I can See all of my Waves VST's and, they will load into a Studio One 3 Project Track. The issue is that there are no Presets an any of the Waves VST's.
    They all work perfectly in Cubase 7.5 on the same PC. So where do I tell S1-3 to look for Waves VST Bundles and their Pre-Sets? I've tried every combination of locations that I can think of so, I'm still doing something wrong for S1-3?

    I cant seem to get my waves to run as 64 bit! I use adobe audition cs6 and fl studio 12. ALL of the plugins load in 32 bit but I cant get the 64 bit versions to run! I have waves 9v30 and I have a 64 bit windows 8.1 OS. I cant seem to find out how to use the 64 bit plugins. The only errors I ever see people having is with the the simple shell copy issue which i dont have. I can load every single plugin but when you click the info on them they alll say 32 bit. Its just irking the hell out of me that I have the the 64 bit shell files in the right directories, as well as the VST3s but for some reason I cant seem to get either of my DAWs to load 64 bit plugins. I cant figure it out! Even in the 64 bit version of FL studio 12. Still the same as the 32 bit version. Any one else with this issue?!

    has any one had this issue? and im wondering is changing the name to fixed will help me. i run acid pro 7 on win 10. waves v9 plugins. open a session open a audio track go to add a waves vst like vocal rider.. works perfect. then go try and load waves cla effects and that plugin crashes acid pro as soon as i click on it to add it to the audio track... so windows 10 acid pro 7 some waves plugins work some crash as soon as i try to add them to a track??? any help?? will the wavesshell fixed thing work?

    successfully Waves V9r30, and everything is working. But after I put more and more plugins on my instruments, my daw (I'm using Reaper) is not working properly. It's just not working smoothly.Everything worked fine before instaling Waves. What should I do? Is my computer not good? Or something else?

      You need to upgrade your PC. The AMD processor and the low RAM capacity are the issues. I recommend Intel i7 processors and at least 16GB of RAM for modern audio workstations.

    I'm hoping someone can help me. I have all of my plugins downloaded and all of them work except for NLS and L1 ultramaximizer. those give me an error that says "Does not Have license" Why would all of them work except for these two?
